What is the role of Satsang in a Vaishnavs daily schedule ? Is it one of the most important ingedients of our do today life or an activity one can indulge in when one has free time ? 'Chalo aaje jarak free che to Satsang kari laaiyye' ??

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh, Satsang is like a daily routine, just we awake in the morning and do all the daily needs. Similarly, we daily eat food, we daily dress up nicely, we daily go to works, similarly satsang is also a routine programme, which has to be performed daily. It is not atall the time-pass purpose.

Jai Shree Krushna, In todays world we should realise the importance of Satsang. First we should understand why their is emphasis on daily satsang. I could explain this with an example. Our bhav and taap is like a sigri with live coals. Laulik dusang, klesh, krodh, asadalap etc is like water. If someone pours this water on live coals, they will turn into ashes. Satsang plays role of vessel on the sigri. When someone pours water in the vessel, it will evaporate and our bhav will still stay alive. This is importance of satsang. We should do satsang daily and try to incorporate the principles in our daily routine life. We should be a good listener at time of doing satsang and after satsang should do manan and chintan of what we listened in satsang. Vaishnav satsang is very important because even Shree Thakorji loves it.Shree Thakorji is 'Stuti Priya' and where his jeevs do satsang,Shree Thakorji runs at that place. Satsang is like doing naam seva of Shree Thakoji. We know from prasang of Shree Kumbhandasji that he considers his son as 'half son' because he does seva of cows but does not do satsang.Even when a vaishnav like him gives so much importance to satsang, then we just cannot take satsang for granted or do it when we get free time. It is as important as seva.

Jai Shree Krishna Very good replies gopal bhai and snehal bhai. Hope more Vaishnavs participate too, and present thier view points, their understanding of Satsang like the fine example of Sigri and coal given by Snehal bhaai. AAo Vaishnav aao, Satsang ko marg dikhao, Isko anand dikhao, hame Shree Thakorji se milao. Edited by - shreekant22 on July 30 2005 13:19:28

jsk satsang milna hi seva ka fal kaha gaya hai. so sattsang jo kisi ko mila it means the vaishnav has reached a point where his "adhikar shetra " has increased then only he recieves the satsang. hence u can say that satsang is not a time pass , but one mode to know your religion and get the knowledge of it. jsk

Jai Shri Krishna, From all the above comments made so far, one could say that satsang is critical so it must especially be performed when passing time (regardless of what time it is that one is passing and how) because in our time and age majority of our time is "time pass" and time is passing us by ... Best Wishes jagdish

Jai Shree Krishna Very intelligently expressed pun Jagdeesh bhai. Yes, very well said, majority of our time is time pass only, and time is passing by, so lets get alert, becmore more vigilant and not lose any opportunity to do satsang... Jab bhi hi, jahan bhi ho, Jaise bhi ho, Vaishnav ko sang aur satsang ko badbhagya na chodo, jab bhi mauka mile loot lo, kyunki, is jamane me Soor jaiso jahaj to milego nahin, jiski baat dekhte hum baite rahe. Bheel ne luto sakhadi ko koot hum tum loote satsang ko joot. AAo Vaishnav aao, Satsang ko marg dikhao, Isko anand badhao, hame Shree Thakorji se milao.

Dear Vaishnavs jai Shree Krishna Wah Wah Wah Shreekantbhai, Sunder shayeri hai. Satsang is what makes our bhaav for thakorji and thakorji's seva more fixed. Satsang should be wehre we can forget our worldly worries and concentrate on reaching to thakorji. We spend 23 hours a day for sleeping, eating, making money, looking after family and other worldly affairs, just one hour of bhakti filled bhagwat varta and satsang will refresh the sleeping aatma which we have closed up within us and push its willing to go towards thakorji. Jai Shree Krishna If you understand the term- sandhi: Sat + Sang It is self explanatory. How can one deny oneself of such an enlightening, blessed and healthy activity?

Could someone explain to me what the words "Sat and Sung" mean? I have heard the word "SATSUNG" before but do not know what those two words mean alone?

Jai Shri Krishna, Here is a small attempt from my limited understanding. Please excuse any misunderstandings and feel free to correct any errors. If we take the words individually they could mean Sat = Truth/pure/purity/pious Sang = Company - to be surrounded by Truth/purity and Generally it means one should keep the company of and be surrounded by pious people, and to hold a satsang or be part of it means that we should be discussing topics and subject matter related to Thakorji, such as the vartas (84a and 252 vaishnav stories), singing their pads/kirtans etc. - in our case (in pushtimarg) one could take it further and say that the main/prime company we keep should be that of vaishnavs where we have more opportunities of talking about Thakorji, His leelas, etc. Whereas, the chances of discussing subject matter related to Thakorji are less in the company of other people, who are materialistically inclined.
