Jai Shri Krishna, This is what I understand what Vivek means Knowledge (Gyan) is a means to achieve bhakti or devotion. True knowledge has to result in humility and "Vivek" which is the power to discriminate from right and wrong, only then will it liberate you. One should always uphold the Prudence of Discrimination (Viveka) All happening are due to His Will. It is therefore, the duty of the devotee to submit to His Will and to be free from egoism. It is Gods Will which makes him do all works and brings happiness or misery. A man by his own self is unable to do anything.

Jai Shree Krishna There are four aviveks, they are... 1. To seek things from god 2. To be Proud/egocentric 3. To be adamant and 4. To be self indulgant, devoid of sacrifical quality. Now, Regarding Dhairya, it is said.... Tridukham sahanam Dhairyam (To be able to tolerate the three different types of sufferings is known as Dhairya) Know what are these three different types of sufferings/dukh ???? Jai Shri Krishna Sufferings received due to our Karmic actions - did something in the past and it results in something unfavourable. An example that comes to mind is when one of the great Rishis was put in jail by a king and was being punished by being impaled. ofcourse nothing happened to the Rishi and he did suffer it quietly. The King came to know his mistake and instantly begged for his forgiveness. After this the Rishi went to Yamraj and asked him why he was punishd and had to suffer in this way. Yamraj explained to him that this punishment was because in his childhood days the Rishi was poking splints in one of the insects for enjoyment. To this the Rishi was angry because what he did was during the age of innocence and hence should not be held accountable for this act. Then he cursed Yamraj to be born on Earth..... Sufferings received due to desire and attachment for worldly/materialistic things - not having this or that ... addiction to coffee/tea (not having gives headaches), no car, no money etc etc ? Sufferings received due to divine interactions - such as Thakorji wishing to "play" with us.. or cause and affect of demigods and goddesses - wanting to be able to do seva (or break in seva), but cannot for whatever reasons (such as being in sutak) - genuinly and sincerely wanting to be able to visit the holy places, but cannot for wahtever reasons. - accidently doing anashray ? Please correct my misunderstandings/ignorance. Best Wishes Jagdish Edited by - jagdish on April 25 2005 16:41:22

Jai Shree Krishna Yes. Jadish bhai, you are right. They are 1. Aadhibhautic, that is the ones suffered physically, by the Body. 2. Aadhyatmic, that is sufferings caused due to our desires and 3. Aadhidaivik, that is ones due to devined interruption, like delays in Thakorjis krupa on jeev, etc. Now knowing these three types of sufferings, there are also remedies offered for the same. What are these remedies ????

Jai Shri Krishna, Thank You Although I had the chance to read up, this is from my limited understanding, so please excuse the ignorance. 1) Never compromise your disciplines or in your patience (dhairya ?) regardless of the uncomfortable circumstances 2) Endure anything, such as negative criticisms from people 3) Activities that are not engaged in Shree Hari/Thakorji should be renounced by mind, body and speech Best Wishes Jagdish
