Jai Jai ShriGokulesh, The ancestors of Shrimad Vallabhacharyaji Shri Gusaiji Shri Gokuleshji were orginated from town called Kankar Pallu (Kankerwad), of the South of the Krishna rever, near the mountain called yom Stambh, in South India, Where they resided for a long . By tradition they were pure Velnadu. (Velanati) brahmains following with the Vishnu faith. They were attached to the Krishna Yajurveda branch and Teitarriya branch and were descendents in the Bharadwaj

Gotra (family line) and the deity of their family was Renuka. The chhief person of the family was Shri Govindacharya. Shri Vallabh Dikshit followed him and Shri Yagnanarayana Bhatt followed Shri Vallabh dikshit in the tradition. Following the tradition of the familly he observed celibacy for many years and then married to Narmada , a daughter of a brahmina called Sudharma of Devapur. Yaganarayana Bhatt had special affection to receive an almupt visitor with warm heart. Once a detached teacher called Bilvamangal of Dravida region happened to drop in to his place as an abrupt visitor. Yagnanarayana prayed to him to show him the way by which he would have in his heart devotion to god. That teacher blessed him with the Gopal Mantra. And also commanded him to perform the Soma Yagna. Hence Yagnanarayan commenced the Yagna. At the beginning of the rituals Shri Purushottam Himself appeared from among the alter ablaze with fire in the form of Shri Madanmohanji and blessed him with promise that He will be born as incarnation of Shri Purushottam (God) Himself in his family on the completion of the hundredth Yagna.

Yagnanarayan Bhatt then, could accomplish thirty four Yagnas during his life span. It is said that whenever he was Congronted with any doubt or difficulty about the Veda, he used to go to the river., take bath and then performed meditation of the Veda. At that time Lord Veda appeared before him in his usual form personally and cleared his doubts. Hence , he is also known as the incarnation of the Veda . once some disillusioned brahmins thought of testing Him. . They brought a buffalo and challenged him that they would approve him as the incarnation of the Veda only if he proved his effediency by preaching the Veda to the buffalo. At this Yagnanarayan asked the buffalo to utter stanzas from the Veda. On hearing it, the buffalo’s mind is illuminated with the knowledge of the Veda and it replied all the questions raised by all.

Yagnanarayan had a son called Gangadhar. He was married to Kachi, a daughter of Chitdrumal of Bonipur. He performed other twenty eight “Soma Yagnas” He also wrote a book exposing the secrets of the Scriputres, Poorva Mimansa and Uttar Mimansa. He is considered to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva. Once multiple streams of the holy Ganga were seen to be emerging out of his hair.

Gangadhar Bhatt had a son called Ganapat Bhatt. He is known as the incarnation of Lord Ganesh. He was married to Ambica , A daughter of brahmin called Keshav of South Mathura. He performed thirty “Soma Yagnas”. He travelled across the southern region of India with many disciples and won the scholarly discourses against Shaktas , scholars following the Shakta sect and Tantrikas, scholars following the Tantra Sect.

He wrote a book called "Swatantra Nigrah". Besides Ambica, Ganapat Bhatt had two other wives. Each of his wives gave birth to three children each and thus he had in all nine sons. The eldest of his sons born of the eldest of his wives was Vallabh Bhatt. He was married to Poorna, a daughter of Kashinath of Dharmapuri. He was an excellent scholar and earned the fame as "Dash Granthi" by deliverint number of discourses on the Dash Granth. He performed five Soma Yagnas. He wrote a book called Bhaktideep. He is known to be the incarnation of Lord Soorya (Sun). He also proved his power of the sun by showing people a midday at the morning hour.

Vallab Bhatt had two sons : Lakshman Bhatt and Janardan Bhatt. Of the two, Lakshman Bhatt was a bright scholar. He was considered as the incarnation of the Akshar Brahma, the Eternal soul and Lord Shiva himself. Laxman Bhatt was married to Yallamagaru (Illamagaru), a daughter of Susharma, the royal priest to the king of Vidyanagar. Hence, Laxman Bhatt went and resided at a town called Agrahar. At his family house, were born a son, Ramakrishna and two daughters, Saraswati and Subhadra. He performed five Soma Yagnas. In this manner a course of one hundred Soma Yagnas initiated by Yagnanarayan Bhatt and carried on thenafter by his descendents was accomplished at the hands of Shri Lakshman Bhattji in his time. The last Soma Yagna was accomplished on the nineth day of the bright half of the Chaitra month in V.S. 1532. At the conclusion (Completion ) of the Yagna, there emerged from the alter a Supernatural utterance addressing to Lakshman Bhatt : "At your auspicious family (house), Lord Poorna Purushottam himself will descend by birth". At that time, Lakshman Bhatt took a vow to offer dinner to one Lakh twenty five thousand brahmins at Kashi. Then Lord Poorna Purushottam descendend in the Bhatt family in the form of Shri Vallabh and, thus fulfilled the promise he had granted to Yagnanarayan Bhatt. He was known on the earth by the name of Shri Vallabhacharyaji - Shri Mahaprabhuji. His marriage was held in V.S. 1556 with Shri Mahalaxmiji, a daughter od Deven Bhatt of Kashi. Shri Vallabhcharyaji had two sons : Shri Gopinathji who is believed to be the incarnation of Shri Baladevji, and Shri Gusaiji, who is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Vitthalnathji of Pandharpur. At this great, scholarly, renowned and pious family, Shri Gokuleshji was born at one hour and fifty six minutes at midnight, on Thursday, on the seventh day of the bright half of the Magashar month in 1552. The season was Hemant, a part of winter, when the sun was soaring southward. According to astrology , the time was the Poorva Nakshatra when the moon was in the Zodiac and the Lagna was Mithun. The year was V.S. 1608 and 1473 of the Shaka calandar. The age was the Kali, the fourth one, the 28th of the Veiswat Manvantar, in Shweta varan Kalpa, in the second half of the Brhma year.

Shri Mahaprabhuji, Shri Gusaiji and Shri Gokuleshji amont these three there was as such no radical difference. All the three are three varied forms of the same Poorna Purushotta, in among Gusaiji's seven sons, Girdharji lived signifying Lord's form as holder of faith, where as the other six sons stayed in this world signifying Lords' six forms of religiion, SHri Govindraiji signifies the form of affluence, Shri Balkrishnaji signifies the form of valour (strength), Shri Yadunathji signifies the form of knowledge ( Learning), Shri Gokuleshji signifies the form of fame, Shri Raghunathji signifies the form of wealth and Shri Ghanshyamji signifies the form of detachment.

Once during his childhood, Shri Gokuleshji took his food and then, arrived on the bed prepared for shri Gusaiji and started playing there. That time one attendant who was present there held his hand and brought him down. He scolded him and forbade him not to play on the bed left it would be spoil . At such humiliation Shri Gokuleshji was annoyed and stood on the side with annoyance. When Shri Gusaiji came there after finishing his food, he saw Gokuleshji in annoyed mood. He inquired about the reason at which one Vaishnav devotee sitting there narated to him what had happened earlier. On hearing it, Shri Gusaiji got the bed cut into pieces and removed it from there. He also punished the attendant severely. Then he asked for another bed on which he led down on it taking Shri Gokuleshji in his embrace. This incident highlight Shri Gusaiji's extreme affection for his fourth son, Shri Gokuleshji.

After Shri Gokuleshji accomplished his study at a teacher's place, he used to go to the gymnacium to do physical exercise. There he played games like dado, gend, changa, lavangi, chakri etc. to keep the body fit and healthy. The equipments required for playing games like ball etc. were made by Madhusudan, a carpenter staying in Adel. Hence, Shri Gokulnathji has spoke of him from his own mouth

" Paache Jo Hum Mangia So Ve Kar Deve Vako Ham Kachu Dijia So Kabhu Na Leve Hamko Jab Dekhe Tabe Bahot Sukh Pave, Vaishnav Aruniko Hato Kahyu Swath Swbhve"

When shri Gokuleshji was studying , a humorous incident was being narrated when a student arrived there and said " Today I remained hungry". The teacher asked the reason. He explained that there was a greedy brahmin, on uttering whose name in the morning one would not avail of his food. He further said as he had uttered that brahman's name on that day and so he did not get his food. for the day. The teacher laughed at that matter. But Shri Gokuleshji asserted that matter was as approved by the shastra :

"Atmanam, Gururname, Namati Krapanshya ch Shreyaskamo Na Grahayaniyat Jyeshta Patya Kaltrayam"

This stanza says that it is commanded in the shstra to avoid uttering one's own name, his teacher's name, the husband's name, the wife's name and besides that of one who is very greedy and miser. The teacher then said that that day he would utter that greedy brahmin's name to see how come he would not get his food. Saying so, he utter the greedy brahmin's name when this incident happened, the teacher was having his food for several days at Shri Gusaiji's home. On that day, all the members of the family alingwith Shri Gusaiji and the teacher were invited on dinner at Govindmama's. When the teacher and Shri Gokuleshji arrived home from the school, there was none at home. All had gone to Govindmama's.house. The teacher had missed (forgotten) the point that he had been invited with his family on dinner at Govindmama's house. He felt terribly hungry. Hence, Shri Gokuleshji suggested that he would arranged for required material for cooking and he would cook food. At this, the teacher said that he felt too idle to cook and so he should be given any food left in the house. Shri Gokuleshji searched at his best if he could find something to eat, but found it no where. He, therefore told the teacher that they would get food only when the mother Rukmaniji would returne home. Hence the teacher got the point that, that day in the morning he had uttered a greedy brahmin's name and as a result, what Shri Gokuleshji had explained come to true. And the teacher told Shri Gokuleshji not to utter any greedy's name, even by mistake, from that day. In this way, Shri Gokuleshji paid honour to the holy scriptures and cured the teacher of his false pride.

During the course of Shri Gokuleshji's study, students of the school once complained to the teacher that after the study at the school Shri Gokuleshji played throughtout the day, He said that he read the Bhagawad and did not pay due attention to his homework. When Shri Gokuleshji came to the school the teacher scolded him severely that how he would convince his father about his progress in study. At this Shri Gokuleshji utter any lesson that he would ask him to present and reply all the questions. He further assured him that he would present all the lessons that were done so far by the teacher. Shri Gokuleshji uttered all the lessons incessantly (Fluently) and the students who had complained against him were put in utter embarassment.

When the Moghul emperor Akabar invaded Adel, in V.S. 1617, Shri Gokuleshji left Adel with Shri Gusaiji and arrived at Gadha in V.S. 1619. There he stayed for three years at the queen Durgavati's place. He passed (spent) three years of his childhood at Gadha. The state of Gadha is located in the norther part of the Bundelkhand in Madhya Pradesh. In V.S. 1621, he set out for Mathura with shri Gusaiji and in V.S. 1622, on the second day of the dark half of the Bhadrwa month he entered Goku. Shri Gusaiji then settled permanently at Gokul. He stayed at Gokul for eighty four days and then in V.S. 1623 on the eleventh day of the bright half of the Kartik month he entered Mathura.

At the family of Shri Gokuleshji, his first son, Shri Gopalji was born on the fourteenth day of the bright half of the Posh month in 1642. His second son, Shri Vitthalraiji was born on the thirteenth day of the dark half of the Falgun month in 1645 and his third son, Shri Vrajratnalalji was born in 1650.

Shri Gokuleshji held great affection for his younger brother Shri Ghanshyamji. Once when Lord Shri Madanmohanji who was being worshipped at Shri Ghanshyamji was stolen. Shri Ghanshyamjis conditon grew very pathetic. He abstained himself from taking food and water even and suffered great loss. Shri Gokuleshji could not tolerate Shri Ghanshyamji's pathetic condition. He proclaimed that one who had stolen his Ghanshyam;s Shri Thakorji and caused pains to Ghanshyam would have no son born in his family to carry on his names. At that time, one of the vaishnav devotees present there asked him what if any of the children of his sacred family was involved in the theft. At it Shri Gokuleshji asserted that the curse would aslo be inflicted upon the one involved in stealing, even if he belonged to his sacred family.

When Shri Gokuleshji travelled to any place outside Gokul Jatipura, at the bed time he would unfailing ask a person attending him about the direction in which Gokul- Jatipura were located. Then he would sit keeping his face toward that direction and meditate for a while. Then he would sleep keeping his head on that side. Once Malji Pancholi came near him and asked him what was the significance of the thought about a caste when all the castes- Brahmin, Kshatirya, Vaishya and Shudra - adopted the Vaishnav sect, then he uttered a couplet from his own mouth :

"Char Varna Mili Hari Bhaje Ek Varna Vehejat | Sapta Dhatu Paras Mile Ek Hi. Mol Bikan"

Shri Gokuleshji said again that all are equal and eligible to worship God and to realize him. All attain equal upliftments.

Once a Vaishnav devotee went into Shri Gokuleshjis house and asked where he was sitting. Another Vaishnav devotee told him that he was busy in the worship to god. The visiting Vaishnav devotee said that the worship was performed already by the father and the son and so whether he was beating the line. In the meantime, Shri Gokuleshji arrived there and told him that it was his great fortune that he was beating the line. It is said that since that time a line has been beaten at Shri Gokulnathji's temple.

Everyday Shri Gokuleshji accomplished Shri Gokulnathji's worship at Gokul and arrived at Jatipura in the evening. Then he performed worship to Shrinathji Bawa.

Once the time of Utthapan was getting over and Shrinathji was getting delayed. Hence, Shri Gokuleshji took bath hurriedly in sanctity marked the Tilak on his forehead and entered into worship. The bell was sounded and opened the gate of the temple. In front Shrinathji Bawa was present laughed roairngly and told him that he should thenafter mark the Tilak in that manner only and that the tilak of the type looked charming on him. That day in haste, Shri Gokuleshji had marked a TIlak of a shape of two sticks and missed to mark a shape of feet in the middle of the two eye-brows.

It is said that since then Shri Gokuleshji used to mark a Tilak in a shape of two sticks on his forehead. The same has been followed by his disciples even today.

Once Jahangir, the Mogul emperor thought of testing Shri Gokuleshji on a word of Chidrup. When Shri Gokuleshji's visit to Jahangir's court was planned with a purpose of having a discourse on the scriptural evidences about the Mala-Tilak, Jahangir arranged to erect a platform like a throne, put some bones on it and then, erected a beautiful seat on that place for Shri Gokulnathji. Shri Gokulnathji arrived at the court. He held discussions. Then Jahanjir asked him what was lying there below that platform and whether he could show those things. At it, Shri Gokulnathji replied that below that platform were lying chameli flowers and further suggested that it may be checked by breaking open the platform. Saying so, he went and sat on another seat. The emperor gave a mocking smile and asked his men to break open the platform. What were found lying burried under it were fresh Chameli flowers. Jahangir was wonderstruck and fascinated on witnessing it.

Note : Several people do not approve of the validity of the above narrated incident.

Once Shri Gokuleshji came near his elder brother Shri Girdharji and told his elder brother what they should do when the emperor Jahangir had indirected that he would believe them genuine only if they would charm him by some magic. At this Shri Girdharji told him that showing any type of magic was forbidden Shri Gusaiji, and hence they would have to protect the Mala-Tilak only by taking the Lord's surrender, by firmness and by holding scholarly discourse on the scriptural evidences on the issue.
