Jai Shree Krishna, Gajendramoksha are the prayers offered by king of elephants Gajendra, he was more in modes of passion and ignorance during his life. But once while bathing in the sea, he was attacked by a crocodile and firstly Gajendra took refuge of his own power or strength. A fierce battle took between the two for many thousands of years and no one was a clear winner. But then crocodile grabbed King Gajendras feet and he was in great pain. Then he finally remembered prayers from his previous birth and then uttered the famous stuti for Shree Hari, which are now famous as Gajendra Moksha. Really has some very nice shlokas. And when Hari came to his refuge he although being in great pain, he grabbed a flower from the water using his trunk and offered it to the lotus feet of Shree Hari. Thus as be become totally surrendered, Shree Hari killed the crocodile and took back Gajendra back with him. Thanks

Jai Shree Krishna, Now the second part of the answer is also in Shree Bhagvatam, which states that anyone who reads, listens or studies these prayers would 1) have the well being of svaraga, in terms it would bring some material comfort. Or would remove his distress 2) Would remove the effects of Kaliyuga, thus one would become more conductive to practice bhakti. 3) Any bad dreams coming would go away, that it reduces the distress and one realises the higher truth. Another point is as in non vaishnavs they say read Hanuman Chalisa or other things to relieve one of extreme material discomfort or troubles times. In Vaishnavs I think Gajendra Moksha prayers are commonly recommended for that. Perhaps being with the idea that in trouble times if we ever have to take anyones refuge it only has to be Shree Thakorjis only.

Jai Shree Krishna Well explained Manish bhai. Now for the important part: who got uddhar first, Gajendra or Graha (Crocodile)? and what is the significance?

Jai Shree Krishna, Shreekant bhai, Graha got the uddhar first, but he only went back to Grahalok. Whereas Gajendra went back to Golok Dham. Waiting for the answer from you and its significance. Thanks

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh, Yes, Inaxiji, because for pushtimargi's the only phal (fruit) is to get the seva of shrithakurji. Which shrimahaprabhuji explains, in Many of the different created granths by aapshri.

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh Parivaar, Baroda

Jai Shree Krishna Gajendra Moksha highlights a very important factor of Pushtimarag, which is the reason why i had amde this posting. Well as expalined well by manish bhai, about the fight between the Graha and Gajendra, when the graha heard gajendra utter the name of Shree Thakorji, he only tightened his grip more on the gajendras leg, fro now he knew that he had not caught hold leg of any ordinary jeev, but of some saintly being, who in his period of struggle had as the last resort whne everything he could do was over, when all his strengths had perished had sought help from the lord himself. The graha was convinced of Gajendras sainthood, and was sure that Shree Thakurji would come for his help. the graha, who in his birth was unable to even call out shree thakorjis name, hung on to Gajendras feet knowing fully well that he was know holding the feet of a saint. When Shree Thakorji arrived, he first killed the graha and did his uddhar because, he was holding the feet of his bhaktha, and therefore bacame his parambhaktha. The Graha, who had his aasakthi in the Bhakth of Shree Thakroji became parambhaktha, and hence was given the uddhar first by Shree Thakorji and then the Gajendra was taken away by Shree thakroji and hence given the second uddhaar. related to this there is a very important prasang of Shree Gokulnathji, The Chathurthpeedadheesh, on who can in this lok be graced by Shree Thakorji to see his leelas? Let us see who can answer this.
