Shree Mahaprabhuji has accepted the definition of Bhakti(devotion) from Narad Panchratra : Mahatmyagyan purvastu sudradhah sarvatodhikh, Snehah Bhaktiriti prokt, tayar mukti na ch anyatha. So glorifying knowledge of the Lord is a prerequisite to strengthen the love which itself is devotion. There is no other way for liberation than this. Devotion without knowledge is sentimental and knowledge without devotion is dry. Jai Shree Krushna Dharmendra

Jai Shri Krishna !!

I think  to be fully devoted towards Shri Thakurji is must to attain Him so it's sufficient, though u don't have knowledge. (Though it's not sufficient for people in this Kaliyug becoz today  u can't see anyone having faith on anyone else without knowing all facts)

In one of varta out of 252 a Doshi (old lady) was having faith on Shri Gusainji. When she was 8-10 yrs old Shri Gusainji gave her Shri Mathureshwarji's swarup n said, "This is our beloved Thakurji n u do His seva with devotion n never leave Him." She had full devotion in Shri Gusainji so she never left her Thakurji alone and did His seva with full devotion. Her devotion was so strong that one vaishnavs Balkrishnaji turned to Shri Mathureshwarji. N wished to be in that Swarup only.

Thus I feel devotion is must n it alone can help to attain Shri Thakurji. But u need to be devoted like Doshima.

Jai Shree Krishna!!

Jai Shree Krishna,

I think that  at one stage Bhakti and knowledge are both necessary... But first preference to bhakti then knowledge. because without bhakti knowledge is useless....

For example; if a person having lot of knowledge and another having only bhakti... the first person doing seva with his knowledge and another doing seva with bhakti then God will accept bhakti not knowledge...

God needs love, bhaav bhakti not knowledge..

but For seva one should need some knowledge... Because jab mera bramhasambandh hua uske baad maine seva start kiya.. mujhe kuch jyada knowledge nai tha but then also i was doing seva... And then jab mujhe thoda pata chala ki seva kaise karani chayiye thoda knowledge then I was taking more interest in seva.. and now I am doing seva with my little knowledge and bhakti...

Correct me if I said something wrong....

Thanks, Jai Shree Krishna

Kavita...

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh

ShriHariraicharan is the most known name for all shripushtimargi vaishnavas. Aapshri created the Shikshapatra, and many other small granths. From that granths, 1 granth is Sevya Swaroop Tartamya Nirnay grnath, which explains the importance of understanding the swaroop bhavna of the Swaroop, which we wanted to serve. Just an example, that if we had bhavna in our hearts that wanted to serve shrithakurji as a Balkrishna, and wanted to get all the leela's darshan, and we get ShriMadanmohanji pushted, then some differece comes in the bhaav of Serving shrithakurji, as the swwaroop bhavna had changed and also our bhavna is different.

Dear Forum,

Vijayate Sri Madanmohan Prabhu!

Pushtibhakti is not limited to liberation of a soul, liberation is not the end for us pushtimagiyas for whom seva of Thakurji is of the utmost importance. For us the Ananda (bliss) aspect of Thakruji is what a Pushti devotee seeks through his devotion.

This Ananda lies nowhere else but in Shri Krishna's Bhakti alone. Therefore, the devotion in the initial stage acts as a means (Sadhana-rupa-Bhakti) of achieving that Bhakti which is a reward of this 'Sadhana-rupa-Bhakti. This Phal-rupa Bhakti is unequalled to anything in this world. This Bhakti is full of bliss and can only be experienced rather than told.

It is said that the kind of devotion that these cowherd ladies of 'Vraja" had for Shri Krishna is yearned for even by the devatas but it is not available to them. It was only because of God's grace that they were bestowed with this highest form of devotion.

Uddhavji, whom Shri Krishna had sent to Vrindavan in order to give these Gopis the true knowledge about 'Brahman", himself came back from there after learning about purest form of devotion. He has praised these ladies for their greatest contribution to human kind in the form of pure love, which is doing the job of purifying this universe, which is full of selfish people.

The more it is written about Gopijan, the lesser it falls to be, because what they have achieved is the final goal of every pushti devotee.

 Jai Shree Krushna

Madhav

(Not through the discourse, not through the intellect, not even through the study of the scriptures can the self be realized. The self reveals himself to the one who longs for the self. Those who long for the self with all their heart are chosen by the self as his own)

I found this very interesting verse and thought it was very apt for this discussion and thank you for ur encouraging words Shreekant Bhai.

Jai Jai Shree Gokulesh.

Thakurji Udhhavjine kahe chhe- he Udhhav mane gyani bhakt gana priya chhe…
Without proper knowledge, one can fall down so mahatmyagyan is necessary. How we can have mahatmyagyan? We have 84,252,78 bhagvadiya charitra, many granths by Shri mahaprabhuji, Shri Gunsaiji, Shri Gokulnathji, Saptacharyaji, Shri Hariraiji, Shri purushottamji…From Bhagvatji we come to know about Shri Krishna. But what I think is, Is it possible to fall in love by reading or hearing ?…Ya if for whom we read or hear comes in front of our eyes. We r waiting for that to happen  and that waiting makes us more eager to attain knowledge about our Prabhu. Again we will be very eagar to hear or read and mahatmya gyan increases. All is to know abt our mool swaroop and anand. We know by granths that our efforts are not in vain, in this or next birth we will get it definitely. After knowing our adhikaar and swabhaav Shri Gurudev gives us Pusht Prabhu for sewa. Our fal is Pushti prabhu and sewanu fal sewaj chhe. But is it possible to do sewa by our own desire, NO.  Only those jeevs whom shri prabhu has done varan only can do sewa. If shri Prabhu wishes to give us tahel of His sewa, every pratibandh will go away and we will able to do it otherwise not.

At the time of avatar kaal, it is possible to have shudh sneh in Shri Krishna because of various leelas…and 84, 252, 78 vaishnavs were very lucky coz as they got brahmasambandh they recognized their own swaroop, sewya swaroop and Gurudev,s swaroop but we cannot feel all this. So for us proper knowledge is necessary and APAWAD is always there so some jeev can do sewa in a better way even without gyan and only with sneh.

Haripriya.

Jaishree Krishna

Surdas ji says in one of his padas: "Fal falit hoye fal roop jaane" According to me there is always an element of knowledge in Bhakti which guides us towards the ultimate goal of our devotion. this may or may not come from scriptures, e.g in context of Gopijans their longing towards the beloved thakurji is their bhakti and the swaroop of thakurji they long for is knowledge. similarly in context of vaishanvas this knowledge is present, whatever be the source. Please feel free to put ur critiques as this is my first post .
