Jai Shree Krushna !

Shree Vallabhacharya Mahaprabhuji in his time, came across several persons born in lower caste (Shudra). How was his dealing with them, while maintaining varnashram dharm of society intact?

Jai Shri Krishna, Shri Mahaprabhuji had divine eyes and could distinguish the pure devotee even if he was a shudra and to them he gave permission to start seva. He did liberated them too if we read the vartas.

Jai Shree Krushna, Vasantbhai! This is a general question and the term Shudra is taken in general sense too that includes persons born in lower castes, untouchables etc. Infact you can pen down your thinkings on shree Mahaprabhuji's views about this and other social classes and his effort to elevate them. There should be no fear of being said "you are wrong. pl try again " etc, as all of us are here to understand and glorify our Acharya Shree Mahaprabhuji and his message. It is these binary type questions with strong evaluative sense that leads to outbursts, but qualitative questions provides every vaishnav an opportunity to share their feelings. Jai Shree Krushna ! Dharmendra

Jai Shri Krishna, Well here is the answer is short. Submissiveness, purity, guilelessly ministering to one's master, performance of ( the five daily ) sacrifices, unaccompanied by ( the recitation of ) mantras (sacred Texts) non thieving, truthfullness and protection of cows and the Brahmans are indeed the charactistics of a Sudra.

Jai Shree Krushna ! Thank you Vasantbhai for describing the characteristics of a Shudra. This is indeed as per the definition of Shudra in scriptures, but unfortunately the whole class system was degenerated to categorization by birth instead of characteristics. Consequently, the Shudras were given a very low status in Hindu society from the Vedic times. They were not treated as equal to other classes. They were banned from performing sacrifices or even entering such places. They were not allowed to study the Ved or to have the thread ceremonies. In course of time, they were not even allowed to posses property. Shree Mahaprabhuji believed that they were not a degraded class if they do service to God through service to other classes. Shudras, according to him are the best of the social classes if they lead a devotional life. He raised no disability against them in the religious matters. He would accord them every right of God worship as devotees; but without conceding them the rights of other classes in social relationship. Shree Mahaprabhuji and Shree Gusainji were very liberal to the so called untouchables in religious matters. These people had equal right for devotional life provided they were clean in food and dress and were sincere to practise devotional life. Though the then Hindu society was reluctant to remove social restrictions against them, Shree Mahaprabhuji, without interfering and disturbing the status quo, made them fit for religious life, while preserving the spirit of the scriptures. So the way for them to acquire fitness was cleanliness of body and food, purity of heart by virtuous conduct and a desire for devotional life. If they possesed these qualities, they were fit to contact holy men, attend religious sermons, participate in singing of divine songs and have darshan of Thakurji in a haveli. And thus they can live a life of a vaishnav and attain the highest good i.e. association in God's lila. Shree Mahaprabhuji's contribution to social reform can be better understood by conceiving the social system in his time. Jai Shree Krushna ! Dharmendra

Dear Vasanbhai Jai Shree Krishna Having the subject cleared, a very silly question, and for record please explain the difference between "NAMAH & SWAHA", in the context of obligations. Thank You Vinod
