Shree Hariraijis brother, upon his wife's demise was mourning her death and ignoring his devotional duties. Shree Hariraiji noticed this and wrote to him a series of letters ( which were apparently not read on arrival but stored away ) This compilation of advisory letters became our current Shiksha patra. Jai Shree Krishna, Neil.

Dear Jatin,
Jaishreekrishna.
Shree Hariraiji had already forseen the event of death of Shree Gopeshwarji's wife. So,he had written Shikshapatra from that day itself. After completing some 4th or 5th Shikshapatra , demise of His (Gopeshwarji's) wife took place. So,as said by neilbhai, Shikshapatra was written to console Shree Gopeshwarji about this event.
Also, Shree Gopeshwarji was upset about His Wife's demise because she loved Thakoji very much and not for any material reasons. Therefore, Shree Hariraiji had written Shikshapatra.
I have heard from Bhagwadi Vaishnavs that Shikshapatra is available to us as it was hidden by a sevak of Shree Gopeshwarji from Mughals otherwise it would have been destroyed.
Please correct for any misinformation or mistake to me on amibuddy@indiatimes.com
