252 Vaishnav Varta 176 - Mukunddas Sekhda

Now the sentiment (inner meaning) of the account of Mukunddas Sekhda (a Kshatriya), a sevak of Shri Gusainji, is being narrated.

Bhav Prakash (Revealing the Sentiment): He is a sattvic devotee. In the divine play, her name is “Aradhika.” She is a friend of Shri Chandravaliji. She manifested from “Ketaki,” therefore that is her devotional form.

He was born in a Kshatriya family. When he became twelve years old, his parents passed away. After some time, he set out on pilgrimage. First, he arrived at Shri Gokul.

Prasang 1 – Mukunddas Receives Refuge Once, Mukunddas Sekhda came to Shri Gokul for the darshan of Shri Gusainji. He had darshan of Shri Gusainji above Thakurani Ghat. The darshan he received was of the direct Supreme Purushottam Himself, possessing beauty surpassing millions of Kamadevas. Then Mukunddas Sekhda submitted a prayer to Shri Gusainji: “O Maharajadhiraj! Please accept me into Your refuge. I have been wandering and roaming for a very long time.” Then Shri Gusainji commanded him: “Go and bathe in Shri Yamunaji.” Immediately, Mukunddas Sekhda bathed in Shri Yamunaji and returned. With folded hands, he prayed: “Maharaj! Please bestow Your grace upon me and give me the Name.”

Then Shri Gusainji mercifully bestowed the Name upon Mukunddas Sekhda. Afterward, Shri Gusainji entered the temple. Then, in the presence of Shri Navneetpriyaji, he performed Brahmasambandh for him. Mukunddas Sekhda then offered a gift according to his capacity. Thereafter, he had darshan of Shri Navneetpriyaji. Having received that darshan, he became greatly pleased. After that, Shri Gusainji completed the service of Shri Navneetpriyaji and came to his sitting place. Later, he went for his meal. After taking his meal and performing achaman for purification of the mouth, Shri Gusainji then had the leaf-plate containing his remnants placed before Mukunddas Sekhda.

Mukunddas accepted the Mahaprasad. Afterward, he came before Shri Gusainji, offered dandavat, and sat down. Then Shri Gusainji kept Mukunddas Sekhda in his personal attendance. Wherever Shri Gusainji went, Mukunddas remained with him. Shri Gusainji always remained pleased with Mukunddas Sekhda. Out of grace, whenever confidential discussions concerning the Path took place, Shri Gusainji would speak of them with Mukunddas. Mukunddas never went anywhere, leaving Shri Gusainji.

Bhav Prakash (Revealing the Sentiment): In this account it is shown that a sevak should not remain separate from the Lord even for a moment.

Mukunddas Sekhda was such a supremely grace-filled devotee of Shri Gusainji and so greatly beloved of Bhagavan. Therefore, there is no limit to the narration of his account. How much of it can possibly be told?
