JSK I have gone through a lot of pain and suffering recently and do not understand its purpose? Why does there have to be pain and suffering? Though a man now, like a child I lack understanding even though I am a vaishnava jeev. Would my esteemed more experienced Vaishnavas explain the resons for and how to cope with same pain for those that we love and may be inflicted with rog, why and for which purpose they have been affected and thus are suffering and by our closeness to them we too suffer. My humble apologies to ask such a basic question.

Jai Shri Krishna,

not a basic question and there is no need for apologies... part of human nature to "suffer" pain, mahaprabhuji advises His jeevs to tolerate the three types of sufferings "tri dukh-sahanam", and to keep dhairya "dhairyam"...

aapshri knew that the jeevs will go through this... tri-dukh are the three types of sufferings... the most basic ones we associate with is materialistic sufferings and that which we bring on ourselves due to karmic actions or due to our (ego's) "attachment" to our "near and dear" ones. Krishna goes through this at length with Arjun in Bhagvad Gita, and likewiwse Shukdevji goes through it with Parikshitji. Similarly, shri harirayji mahaprabhuji gave us the shikshapatra keeping his brother at the centre of focus.

Thus, we can also find key answers by taking shelter and doing satsang of granths such as Shikshapatra to give us that required spiritual understanding and strength in difficult times, while trying to follow shri mahaprabhuji's agya of tri-dukh sahanam and dhairyam Majority of times our suffering is because of our bondage - and bondage is due to our ego (and in directly this becomes due to past actions - this life or any previous lives; it is the debt we owe each other)

Hope the above helps - grateful for further clarifications and please forgive me for saying anything out of place.

JSK Jugdishbhai, God is our only refuge, everything else seems temporary. God is everlasting with us through pain and happiness and laughter. but pain is much harder to cope with? and I am still trying to understand why it has to be so. I will seek out your references again though I have read them before but without true understanding. Often life tests us and we end up questioning God's lila, but everything happens because of his wishes and only when He ordains it. Mere mortals and little jeevs like me often forget who is ultimately in charge. The lord is and always will be and he will pacify, protect, calm and shelter his devotees and will never let any true harm come to them I know that. JSK to all vaishnavas. Glory to Shree Mahaprabhuji, Shree Nathji bawa and Shree Jumuna Maharani ma!!

Jai Shri Krishna Bhai,

Thank you for your kind words and confirmation of the above. as you know ultimately all these tests are there to make us stronger and get closer to the seva of that divinity for which we are made.

as the saying goes, when gold is heated it glows/shines better and diamonds are produced in the deepest of mines and only under heavy heat and pressure.

Sukh aur Dukh, are the 2 sides of a coin...... So no one in this world is away from such cycle.....sometimes the pain factor seems to have taken more time, sometimes happiness seems to take less time....ultimately, this is a viscious cycle...
