Jai Shree Krishna,I would just keep this very brief as we have discussed this, but I would like to ask all those who are constant/occasional contact with any Vallabh Kul balak, to please ask if in a very strict way 1) are carrots offered to shreenathji in havelis/Nathdwara?? 2) if they are not offered, what is the reference for that in scriptures. Thanks to all.

Jayshrikrishna,
there are three types of food,
satvik, tamas & rajas
satvik & rajas food are used in seva.
tamas food are not used in seva, hence carrots or any other tamas food is not used.

Bindiben, Thank you for the input. I have added carrots as tamasi food in my data.
What are the properties of Tamasi Food?
How does one distinguish which food belongs to the 3 category mentioned?
Any information provided will be useful for future use.

Thanks everyone for the answer,
Even in one of the Vaishnav vartha, before giving Asthakshar mantra, he was said not to have onions, garlic and carrots. This was one in pushtikul.com only.
Vinod bhai, as you would be knowing mushrooms are also known as tamsi food.
As in our house we do not use onions, garlics and carrots. But unfortunately sometimes have to eat them outside. But I was not clear on carrots.
Thanks

Jai Shree Krishna,
As stated in Manu Samhita, Chapter 5, text 5.
5. Garlic, leeks and onions, mushrooms and (all plants), springing from impure (substances), are unfit to be eaten by twice-born men.
But one of the vaishnavs I know, thinks that the word leeks , either include carrots or it means carrots only.
Thus if there is any specific reference available, that would be great.
Thanks,

Dear Manishbahi
Jai Shree Krishna
Many thanks for providing the link and have made note of points that made sense to me.
I was not able to establish the authentcity of the website, so I only digested what my intelligence allowed me. I will endeavour to find out.
However, still seeking information on the questions in the previous postings? Any one?
Thanking you
