jay jay shree gokulesh
VIRUDH = OPPOSIT
DHARMA = Considering this word broadly it is all things like works(KAARYA) , (SWABHAV)etc
AASHRAY = Possess some thing or to give shelter
shree thakorji posses all kind of DHARMA in him which may look opposit to each othere
this GUNA is known as VIRUDH + DHARM + AASHRAY= VIRUDHADARMASHARAY
JAY JAY SHREE GOKULESH

Jai Shree Krishna
According to my understanding....
let me take the lead from anpur ben...
"jemke bal krishna jasoda ma na khola ma bal swaroop che pan swaminiji sathe tej samaye kishor lila pan kare che. yasoda ma na dhamkavva thi bik lage che ane jagat na rakshak pan che" avi lila te viridhdh dharmashray."...now these are two different things impossible in the logical sense... where shree Thakorji is an Child and the
supreme lord at the same time this kind of leela is know as Virudhadhramashrya, mostly seen only in Krishnaleelas. Another classic example is that ...when Thakorji opens his mouth to show the entire universe in it.... again he is in the lap of maa yashodha very much like a child of his mother, and at the same time he lets her witness the fact that the entire universe is under his command.
May i request the members to through some light on virudhdhramashrays with respect to
pushtimarg... Gopal bhai, Vasant bhai your contributions please....

Jai Shree Krushna !
Virudhdha Dharmashray is an attribute of Brahm (The Supreme Lord). It signifies that Brahm is the resting place of all the opposing qualities. E.g. He is smaller than the smallest and still larger than the largest, He pervades univerally as Akshar Brahma for gyanis and still manifests in a small diety for a bhakt, He is inside and outside simultaneously, He has become many and still is the complete etc.
Shree Mahaprabhuji explains this nicely as the basis of Shudhdhadvait Brahmvaad in the following verse:
Atmeiv tadidam sarvam, Srujate srujati harihi,
Trayate trati vishwatama, Hriyate hartishwarah |
Brahmeiv tadidam sarvam, ...
That is, this everything is the Atma, He is created and He is the creator, He is protected and He is the protector, He is annihilated and He is the annihilator. Similarly this everything is Brahma ...
He further quotes :
Ek hi ev advitiyam Brham, neh nanasti kinchan....sa mrutyumev pashyati|
(There is only one Brahm and there is no other, whoever sees the other actually sees through death.)
Thus he says,
Virudhdha sarva dharmanam aashrayam harihi...
i.e. all the opposing ideas are residing in the Lord Shree Hari without any contradiction. The examples by Reetaben and Shreekantbhai are well-cited. However, we get bewildered mostly when faced with the dualities of the world which appears because of the ignorance.
Jai Shree Krushna !

Jai Shree Krishna
The concept of Virdhadharmashray is very well described and dealt with by shree Hariraiji in the 4th sikshapatra. any one wanting to know more should read it.
