Jai Shri Krishna,
First reason is Najar as explained by Purohitbhai.
Secondly our Thakurji (is a child) has childish behaviour and enjoys games. He likes to play hide and seek so by ttera He gets chance to hide again.

Jai Shri Krishna
Tera depicts MAYARUP
MAYARUP is of two types: Avidyarup & Vidyarup
Avidyrup maya keeps a person away from dharma and busy in worldly things and distracts our mana from dharm.
Whereas VIDYARUP maya is the sevarup of thakorji and that is why tera is vidyarup maya , samagri is swarupatmak., and Thkorji is bhogkarta and therefore bhog is always in ekanta thatis why vidyarup maya ( tera) is required.
Similarly vatsalya tera will keep away others drishti ( najar lage nahi)
Thirdly kumarika bhav representing Shriswaminiji's presence, thakorji is taken in the lap of Shriyashodaji, and mangalbhog is presented in balbhav and for keeping the secrecy of lila vidyamayarup tera is kept.
This was as per my understanding, if not correct please do respond.
Jai Shree Krishna
