Dear Vasantbhai,
Once upon a time Shri Gopinathji has decided he will do daily phat of Shri Bhagwatji(Eighteen Thousand Slokas) than only he will do lunch and he started doing the phat and for completing this it has taken around two three days.
When Shri Mahaprabhuji came to knew about this he thought that if they will only phat than they can't be able to give the time for Shri Thakorjis seva and other work so he has created "Shri Purshotamsahastra Naam" granth which includes more than thousands of names of Shri thakorjis lila and at the end he has said by doing this you will get phal of Shri Bhagwatjis Phat.
If i am wrong than please let me know .

I think Jatin is right.Shri mahaprabhuji made "Shri Purhottamsahastra Naam" for gopinathji.

As Shri Gopinathji's mother got worried that if Shri Gopinathji takes 2 or 3 days to finish Shrimad Bhagwad and does not take his lunch till completed so if He gets married his wife have to remain without food for 2 or 3 days as she cannot eat till her husband has taken food.
So Shri Mahasprabhuji created Shri Pushotamshastra Naam and by reading this you get the benefit or reading Shrimad Bhagwad.

I agree.By Reading Pursotamshastra Naam you can get Bird view of all the major incidents described in Shrimad Bhagavat.
