Jai Jai ShriGokulesh

Bhakti Vardhini Granth

(Tika of ShriDadaji ShriGokulnathji Prabhucharan)

ShriMangalacharan

    "Natva Swacharryapadambhjam Krupamadhusupuritak |

    Tatparagaktbudhya Vyakhyasye Bhaktivardhinim || 1 ||"

Tatbudhidrradhtasidhyaye Pitrupadarjansyaham |

Hyadhyay Pravrutosmi Nanyathepi Hi Nischitam || 2 ||

With the full of blessings formed honey by ShriAacharya, Bowing to ShriAacharyacharan Kamal, after getting well understanding from the beautiful smell of Bhaktivardhini, I  (ShriGokulnathji) hereby do Vyakhya .. 1

For getting strong belief in this granth, my father (ShriGusaiji)'s ShriCharan is been carried to my heart, and then i have engaged in doing the vyakhya of bhaktivardhini and not for any other purpose ... 2

     Yatha Bhakti Pravrudha Syathopayo Nirupyate |

Bijbhave Dhradhe tu syatyagatshravanakirtanaat || 1 ||

In this work, I will explain the means by which devotion may grow to full strength.  But, if the seed of love (for Krushna) has already taken firm root, (devotion may grow to fullness) through renunciation that is characterized by hearing (the scriptures) and singing (the Lord’s) praises.

|| Vivrutti ||

By word "Yatha", means by the elements which will help to increase bhakti in immense way in this bhaktimarg. "Tatha" by that methd means elements, "Nirupyate" is been discussed. It means to say this.

    Now someone questions that there are many methods or elements shown in our shastras and purans for exploring Bhakti, and after getted explored it will surely increase, such as in Shrimad Bhagwat it is said "Danvratthomjapswadhyaysaiyam sadhyata iti" (10-46-24). Means by doing daan, jap, tap, vrat, hom, swadhyay, etc done for  ShriGokulesh will result in exploring Bhakti. Also further "Shradhamrutkathyamamityapkramya" and "Dharmermanushyanambudhvatmanevadanm" "Mayisanjayate Bhakti konyorathaswaishyate  " etc. Hey uddhav by sudh dharmas who doe aatma nivedan, such works will surely explore bhakti in me......

    So now, there are many such examples ieven in shrimad bhagwat, shrigitaji for exploring bhakti, then why such new granth is been introduced to increase bhakti?????? Here shrigokuleshji gives aagyna that even if all the elements shown here are been expressed as exploring bhakti, but they haven't told that they will increase bhakti. So how to increase bhakti, jeev must hear words of ShriAacharyaji.

   Now again a question arises that it is not so that incarease of bhakti is not shown,. Referring Shrimad Bhagwat 3-5-45 "Panente dev kathasudhaya pravudhabhaktaya vishadashyaye | Vairagya saaram pratilam yam bodham Yathanjansanviyarthkunthadisyanyam || " Hey my lord, aapshri's katha is like amrut, those who once does raspaan, with faith will surely get increase in bhakti, which purifies anthkaran, will lead to vairagya (away from worldly matters) and will increase in bhakti is also been shown,.

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh,

...............Continued

       So now how you justify ? Here dadaji ShriGokulnathji gives following aagyna"if such types of question of doubt arises then understand first that daan, vrat, etc r elements of maryada marg and the Bhakti explored from this marg will lead to Maryadamargiya bhakti only. As karya (work) and karan (reason) are of same type so such bhakti will lead to only maryadamargiya bhakti. But Bhakti shown by Shown by ShriMahaprabhuji is Sudhh (pure) Pushtimargiya Bhakti. and is distinct from maryadamargiya bhakti, by all its elements, and its fruits r even distinct. So in this granth (Bhaktivardhini) Shrimahaprabhuji had shown elements of swa-marg ( pushtimarg) increasing of bhakti".

     Now the way in this marga, elements shown will led to increase sudhdhh pushtimargi bhakti indicated by word "Vrudha". Increasing of bhakti so much means able to give fruit. "Tatha" by that elements, that elements are been described "Nirupyate" means to say....

    After describing this 1st stanza of the 1st sloka now to 2nd stanza "Bijbhave Dhradhe tu syat iti...." the swaroop of bijbhaav means after getting blessings-krupa of sudhh pushtimargiya aacharya then doing nivedan to lord SHriGokulesh, then if ShriGokulesh then blesses the jeev is the beej-bhaav. To be "Dhradha" strong means always get addicted to only one in his marga and "Tu" means by no other means or way in marga strongly by particular way only. Then bhakti gets increased, Now by "Tyagatshravaankirtanaat " means by the word tyag leave all elemenets except necessary for this marga. Similarly "Shravan" means listening to the praises of ShriGokulesh afforded to this marg and similarly for "Kirtan" to means so here used 1 word for shravan and kirtan with tyag. which means to say leave away all shravan(listenings) and kirtans (praises) which are beyond rule of pushtimarg.

        Purva Bhumika of the 2nd sloka

     Now pls explain how to get our beej-bhaav strong., But suppose if comming in contact with anya-margiysthen there can be vighna(obstacles). So we had to avoid such sang (relation) which obstructs our bij-bhaav. So further to clarify such things, shrimahaprabhuji gives the 2nd sloka..............

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh

    BijDhdaryaprakarasTU Gruhe Sthitva Swadharmata |

Avyavrutto Bjetkrushnam Pujya Shravanadibhihi || 2 ||

Meaning : -

But the way to make this see take firm root is to remain a householder and follow one’s rule of life.  The one who is not distracted should devote himself to Krushna by means of ritual image worship and be hearing and so forth (- viz follow the Navadha Bhakti).  Even one who is distracted should fix his mind constantly on Hari by practicing “hearing” and so forth.[/h4]

 -: Vivrutti : -

To make bijbhaav strong (Bijdhadhyarprakar) you (tu) is the way (to) without doing other sang (avyavrutto) regarding own religion (swadharmaat) in house (gruhe) stay (sthitva) with pooja (pujaya) with shravan etc (shravanadibhihi) Krishna's (krushnam) to do bhajan (bhajet) Here shrimahaprabhuji gives the aagyna "To make one's bijbhaav strong you should not do any others sang regarding own religion but stay in own house and do bhajan and shravan etc of ShriKrishna. "

|| ShriGokulesho Jayati ||
Jai Jai ShriGokulesh

..........continued

   With the word "TU" in BijdhadhyaprakarasTU  shrimahaprabhuji means to say that by no other means, but only by one way. Swamargiya bhajan is not possible by any other means, but is only possible by "Gruhe Sthitva" i.e. by staying in one's own house only. Shrimahaprabhuji says that saty in house by using word "Gruhe Sthitva " in the sloka. Now for bhagwad bhajan we have to make our own house anukul (adjustable) in such a manner that "Gruhe Sthitva Swadharmat Krisnam Bhajet " for krishna bhajan make house adjusted for performing swadharma. Here by "Swadharma" it doesnot mean by dharmas of varnas and ashramas. Why ? the varnashram dhramas  are not one dharma. How to know this? There r 2 types of dharmas
  1. Sharirparyeyvasayi -  Related to physical body
  2. AatmaparyeyvasayiRelated to soul
    [/*]

   These dharmas r restricted to sandhya-vandan till yoga-yagya which fruits only till indralok. And when period of these fruit completes, then again the circle of birth til death continues. Also same is been said in ShriGItaji
Kshine punya martyalokam vishantiti | (9-21)

which results to only fulfill bodily(material) desire but does not help soul to enjoy parlok (upper heaven)

|| ShriGokulesho Jayati ||

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh

..........Continued

                     Now, by the word "Swa" in "Swadharmata" relates to Aatma (SOul). So the 2nd type of dharma Aatmaparyeyvasayi is been told and this is only Bhagwad dharma . Now one can argue that this aatmaparyeyvasayi is bhagwad dharma ,.... how can you say this? For this question, the aagyna Dadaji gives example of 7th skandha of Shrimad Bhagwad from prasang of Prahlad (7.9.11)

"Yadyajjano Bhagwate Viddhyiti Manan

Tacchaatmane Pratimukhya Yatha Mukhshriiti ||"

Means : - The words of Prahlad are "Just as the beauty of a human also reflects in the mirror image of that human, similarly the human however serves his lord, he also gets the same service....."

         Also in Phal-prakaran of Raasmandal the Bhushan Roopa ShriVrajswaminiji's says (10.29.29)

"Kurvanti Hi Tyayi Ratim Kushala Swa

Aatmanityapraye Patisutadibhirartidya Kimiti || "

Means : - ShriVrajswaminiji's Says "The Smart humans always loves their priya Aatmaroopa ShriHari, more than their importance of husband, kids, who gives pains & sorrows?"

      Now by "Swadharmata" the self religion (aatmaparyeyvasayi) in this word dharma is been added by "TA" pratyay "DharmaTA" becayse by adding TA which is avayyay, and in sanskrit if after any waord any avayyay is added, then that word cannot be differed, means becomes non-changable so in the word "SwaDharmaTA" it is non changable meaning has no vikaar-loops-nirgun. So bhagwad dharma which is swadharma has no vikaar, without any dosh.........................

ShriGokulesho Jayati

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh

....continued

     Now someone argues that here shrimahaprabhuji gave aagya of to follow Swadharmata; but which is our swadharmata? which is the bhagwad dharma? So further for this question's answer Shrimahaprabhuji gives aagyna that by saying word in the mul kaarika

"Avyavrutto Bhajet Krishnamiti"

Means without doing any other relation (sang) only to do shrigokulesh's Bhajan. By this word "Avyavrutto" means to say ;;;;----Do ShriGOkulesh bhajan without doing relation to any other who is not anukul for bhajan. Here in this kaarika ShriAacharyaji has willingly used the word "Krishnam" which implies to fruig giving. so keeping in mind that bhajan of shrigokulesh will give me fruit, so do shrigokulesh's bhajan. But one thing to be kept in mind that bhajan done should not be for any laukik praapti.

           Now as said ahead that to make our bhakti strong, so by this the jeev gets alaukik deh and do saakshat shripurushottam's bhajuan, which is the phal (fruit). This bhajan is element-material-saadhan roopa, but still in pushtimarg only shripurushottam is liable for bhajanable. At this time a jeev is not getting alaukik deh, still the bhajan at this isntance of shripurushottam is the phaalroopa, which is been blesed by him, so do the bhajan, which is phal roop. Do the bhajan of ShriGokulesh,

             Again a new question arises that how this bhajan is at one instance the phal roop and Saadhan roop? For this argument ShriDadaji says, you r right but do hear our point. Because the saakshat phal in pushtimarg cannot be acheived by any other saadhan, but the bhajan of purushottam is the only saadhan, -element-material, which helps to get fruit in pushtimarg. Just an example A king keeps gold along with him in forms, of jewels, gems, ornaments and carries all his formalities through it only. And also stores gold in his locker (khajana). As a king is best among his pupils in his kingdom, similarly gold is the best iron in all the other metals. Similarly Bhagwad bhajan phal is the only best phal above all other bhajans...........

                                                                                                                          ............................still to continue

ShriGokulesho Jayati

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh

.......continued

    Now in the 2nd half kaarika of the 2nd sloka the words used by shrimahaprabhuji, are "Pujyashravanadibhiji" Now bhajan should be of what kind? to which ShriMahaprabuuji says "Pujyashravanadibhihi" we have to do the Bhajan of Shrigokulesh. But how ? So says "PujyaShravanadibhiji" Here in this kaarika the word "Pujya" is used, which is not that pooja shown in our Veds-Shastras. But before this word "Pujya" Shrimahaprabhuji has use dthe word "...Krishnam" which implied that Bhajan of Shrikrishna-ShriGokulesh is Sadaanand Phalroopam. In the Vedas-Shastras the word "Pooja" used is for the Vibhuti Swaroops of ShriPurushottam. And the pooja is not directly related to ShriPurushottam. So ShriMahaprabhuji said to do bhajan of ShriGokulesh with poojan by Shravan And Kirtan etc. the word pooja is one part of Purushottam Bhajan. So here this pooja is a pushtimargiya pooja annd not the method of pooja described in Vedas-Shastras. Now to understand this pooja of pushtimarg, we can understand by this prasang of ShriBhagwatji in the Tamas (Pramey) Prakaran's 7th Adhyay (10-21-11) where the Deer (Hirani) is doing gungaan of ShriHari by expressing in this way

"Poojan Dadhurviradhitam Pranayavlokaikiriti Kathanaat | "

means :- by the bhaavatmak dhrishti (sight) of this Deers (Hirani) did poojan of ShriHari with only looking with loving eyes.

      So to understand this bhaav of pooja in other words we say is the saadhan roop of bhajan in pushtimarg. So to clarify this thing ShriMahaprabhuji willingly used "Pujaya...." In this marg seva is Bhajan.

     Now here someone can question that Pooja means sneh-rahit (without love) seva,. But this is not proper thinking. Why? because this pooja differentiate the maarga. In the SwaPrakatit Sudhha Pushtimarg of ShriMahaprabhuji, is to make jeevs under aapshri's surrender so that they increase bhakti in seva prakatit sudhha pushtimarga. ShriMahaprabhuji has written this bhaktivardhini granth as a Shastra And the Aachikari of this Shastra ate only those jeevs which are been surrendered by him (ShriMahaprabhuji)

ShriGokulesho Jayati

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh

......continued

    Adhikaaris are only the anikrut jeevs and no one else. The jeevs angikrut by Shrivallabh in this Sudhh Pushtimarg Aapshri describes seva done by these jeevs may be Sneh purvak (with love) or sneh rahit (without love). Then also no problem, as these jeevs are in relation to purnapurushottam. So are bhaktimargi's and not pujamargis.

     Now one question: that just as we find in sudhha pushtimarga the seva prakaar like vastra, alankaars, etc, the methods of samarpan, are also been seen in pujamarga. So how they differentiate?  Then to this dadaji clarifies that the poojamargi samarpan method relates to Vibhuti aAvtars of Purushottam and not the Aavtari Purushottam ShriKrishna directly.

      So by involving pooja in seva, in that important sharan is been described by the word " Shravanadibhihi" After the seva of shriprabhu, i.e.in anosar time do shravan and by the word  "...adibhihi" relates to kirtan, smaran, and chintan.

     Now the Purvabumika of 3rd sloka: by doing Vyavrutti-the relation with others in laukik how can we justify....
