RULES FOR STUDENTS AND CHILDREN
1. Children should arise at the latest by 5-30 a.m.
2. After rising early, wash hands, face and brush teeth. Recite Mangalacharan in
remembrance of Prabhu and Guru and then begin one's regular studies.
3. Daily, first thing in the morning with folded hands, say Jai Shri Krishna to
the mother, father, brothers, sisters, elders etc.
4. Daily each morning, after bathing, recite Sarvotam Stotram, Yamunashtak,
Krishnaashray, Navratna, Siddhant Rahasya, etc. Do one mala of ashtakshar mantra
repetition. This should be done without rushing and with a peaceful mind with
correct pronunciation.
5. Before going to school, college, classes etc. first do dandvat to Shri
Thakurji.
6. Do not wear shoes inside the house.
7. At home or outside, even by mistake, do not consume prohibited foods, alcohol
etc.
8. On fortnightly ekadasi or Puhti Margiya sacred festival days, abstain from
watching T.V., films, video, etc... and also abstain from going to clubs, hotels
or eating in restaurants.
9. If there is Thakurji's seva being performed in the home, set aside some time
each day to help in seva.
10. One should wear two tulsi malas and should not to remain without them even
for a moment
11. Keep Shri Maha Prabhuji's, Gurudev and Thakurji's pictures on one's study
desk or in one's study area in the house for darshan and also keep a set of
pictures in one's bag to take to school or college.
12. During daily studies or during exams., one should not do any copying or
cheating. One should not have one's lessons written by another person. One
should strive constantly with determination to attain top marks.
13. One should keep one's study books with extreme care, and should not put them
wherever one pleases. Do not sit in such a way so that one's feet will touch any
of these books. Do not form habit of reading while lying down or on the back
with the book resting on the chest. Do not read in such a way as to cause damage
to the book. For the purpose of memorization, do not speak or sing song lessons
hurriedly without correct pronunciation, do not shake the head, feet or hands
and do not memorize like a parrot without understanding etc. All of these bad
habits weaken the memory and intellectual power and should not be used. One
should keep up with one's studies daily, work consistently and not uselessly
stays up all night cramming before exams.
14. If one has made a mistake, big or small, one should take the matter to one's
parents or Gurudev and never try to hide any thing from them. Without any delay,
one should seek immediate appropriate guidance from them.
15. After studying conscientiously, one needs to engage in sports, play and
entertaining activities also, but, these should not distract one's mind during
the study period. During play and sports one should not become discouraged by
wins or losses, but just enjoy for the sake of playing, without allowing
feelings of jealousy to enter in the mind and accepting that losing is an
inevitable part of the game.
16. Books, magazines, films etc. which are indecent should not be seen. Indecent
pictures or photos should not be looked at or collected. One should abstain from
seeing such corrupted and unproductive literature.
17. One should read and attempt to understand daily at least 5 pages of a Pushti
Marg or dharmic (religious) magazine or other publication.
18. One should strictly abstain from maintaining relations with any one who
engages in the following : -
Opposes Pushti Marg;
Speaks or acts indecently;
Criticises Bhagavan, Guru, dharm;
Consumes forbidden foods;
Takes alcohol,drugs or any other addicting substance;
Abandons studies and wanders without purpose;
Engages in criminal acts;
Speaks disrespectfully to parents, teachers or elders.
19. One should never fear to be honest about one's activities and should always
admit the truth in all matters. Living in fear of telling the truth is to be
ruled out by the mind.
20. If one has made any sort of mistake, big or small, one should go to the
appropriate authority and confess. One should not have the mistakes overlooked,
but, should be ready to accept the due punishment. Fear or punishment causes
mental weakness and feelings of inferiority. To cover up one mistake, a thousand
lies have to be spoken which can destroy the entire life. Unquestionably it is
beneficial in every way to bear the deserved punishment courageously.
21. After completing studies, one should attend and participate in the following
activities held near the home: Celebration of Pushti Marg festivals,
dissertations of Goswamis and scholars kirtan etc.
22. In every way, one should maintain polite behavior with parent, teachers,
Goswamis and elders and never behave disrespectfully under any circumstances.
