HOW TO QUIT CIGARETTE SMOKING


1. On cigarette smoking write a note to remind yourself of the reasons for quitting it and read it daily.

2. There must be an unwavering resolve to quit.

3. On some especially good day make a firm resolve to quit.

4. Of one's own desire, make a promise to quit in the presence of Gurudev or a saint.

5. Make the decision to quit in collaboration with a friend.
 

POINTS TO REMEMBER


1. Once the decision to quit has been made, immediately dispose of all cigarettes, bidis, matches etc.

2. Inform all your friends and associates that you have quit smoking.

3. Develop the habit of speaking the truth only.

4. Pass the time in places where cigarette smoking is prohibited.

5. Drink much water and fruit juices.

6. Do not allow yourself to become attracted to any other addicting substances.

7. Stay busy in activities with friends etc.

8. Develop good habits.

9. Keep elaichi (Cardomom), clove, mint or other mouth fresheners in the mouth.

10. Pray and develop one-pointed ness of the mind.

11. Repeatedly remind yourself that you have promised to quit smoking in the presence of Gurudev or other respected elders.

12. Develop faith in yourself Keeping the above matters in mind will be greatly helpful in quitting and maintaining abstinence.

13. Every thing that has been stated above regarding the dangers and harm of cigarette smoking or chewing tobacco has been proven to be truthful.

Make a promise today with unwavering resolve to quit smoking forever.
